I deep cleaned and organized Miss Audrey's bedroom. I started with her ceiling fan and dusted it really good. I sprayed some Basic H2 on my duster cloth.
As I mentioned in my Cleaning and Organization post, I have a washable duster top that I love. I can just throw it in the washer when I am done. It is small and lightweight and the kids can help me dust with it. I also dusted the cold air returns and Audrey's shelves in her room. I love how using this duster and washing it saves me money!
I bought Audrey's lamp at the goodwill last year for $5. At first I wasn't crazy about the lamp shade because I wanted something more vintage. I thought about cutting off the beads on it and recovering it in a toile fabric. I am SO glad I didn't do that because Audrey LOVES her lamp and always plays with the little beads on it. She also loves to help me clean! Such a good helper!
I went through every single article of Audrey's clothing. I boxed up what we she can't wear anymore and I am going to send it to a friend that has a baby a year younger than Audrey, then I goodwilled the stuff that isn't wearable. Then I figured out what we have in our current size and what we would possibly need. It is a good way to take a mental and physical inventory. Everything in the totes is also clean. I always wash clothes before I put them in there so they are ready to wear.
I also inventory what I have for future sizes. Ignore my 3rd grade handwriting. :) I wrote most of it with Audrey in my lap. :) And she wanted to "help." I think it is so important to inventory what you have and write it down. I wrote this post HERE about where I misplaced a tote full of clothes that Audrey never got to wear and I ended up buying clothes because I didn't realize that we already had the clothes in that size. What a waste of money! So I am writing out what we have and typing it up, printing out two copies, taping one to the tote and putting another one in my purse so that when I am out shopping and I come across some great clothes I can tell if I need it or not. I have 15 t-shirts for her in 3t. I don't want to buy anymore since we don't need them! I would rather buy the things that we need. It is so handy having an inventory.
Audrey loves this dress so I let her wear it while I was going through her clothes. She loved it and wanted to look in the mirror. She loves dressing up! :) She also really loves her little baby center thing I found at the consignment store. She has spent so much time playing with it. I really love consignment stores and garage sale-ing! :)
It is so hard to believe that 21 months ago we came to this...
from this...I just love that baby sooo much! :) I love this picture too. I had it framed at Michaels for 60% off and I love it. It hangs above her crib. My husband calls it her Paris Hilton room because it is full of pictures of herself! Ha!
Here are all of Audrey's shirts and dresses. She only uses half of the closet. I store extra blankets and sheets on the top shelf of the closet.
The other side is some extra clothes of Dusty and I's. I also store our extra sheet sets up top. And I am horrible at folding them. Don't hate me! :) I just fold the flat and fitted sheet and put them all in the pillow case so that they are all together. That way when I need a sheet set they are all in one pillowcase and I don't have to go hunting down the matching sets.
Here is Audrey playing in her freshly cleaned room. Her windows are sparkly with the Basic H2 window cleaner, her room is dusted and vacuumed, bed made, and clothes gone through and decluttered.
Audrey has very few toys in her room because most of her things are downstairs because that is where she plays most of the time but slowly but surely I am trying to put more and more upstairs so that she has things to play with upstairs and I can finally have a living room instead of a playroom! ha!
I made this bow holder for Audrey and it is nice to have all of her bows organized in one spot.
I bought her toy organizer inexpensively at Target. We have a white dresser that was supposed to go in her room but I just cannot see how it could fit. Her room is so small and it would make it so she would have absolutely no room to play. So we have it in our bedroom for now. Do you like her pig bank? That was mine when I was a little kid! :) I also keep her lotion and hairbrush and comb there ready. After her showers this is where she gets lotioned and jammied up! :) It is so important to use good quality lotion on your baby. I didn't realize that. I just recently read that any lotion you use that has chemicals in it soaks into your skin and into your bloodstream within 90 minutes? All of that fragrance and chemicals are so harmful for your baby. It is so important to choose good products to put on your baby.
I keep her shoes in one, pants in another, jeans in another. Eventually it will be filled with her toys but for now I am storing her clothes in there. I try to be creative with our storage! :)
HERE is a post about her original nursery a few years ago. Not much has changed! :)
